HESS

We are nearing the end of Riley's 4th week. I can't believe he's practically a month old! He's such a honey. It's so fun to notice him making a smile. Today I got one when I said, "I heard that tootie!" My friend Jamie told me before she died that becoming a mother and bringing life to the world is the most gratifying thing in life. And she was right. You never know what it feels like until you're here. Caring for a newborn is not even as hard as I thought it would be. Luckily for us he's been sleeping through the whole night. It's fantastic. So its funny when we get the question of if we're getting any sleep because...yes we are! Everyone is happy in this house! Here are a few of Riley's newborn pics. They turned out good so cute. He spent a little extra time in the oven so his whole body was peeling. Poor kid, had to get lotioned and lotioned and lotioned for all these pictures so he wasn't peeling so bad. Jake is so cute with him. He can hardly wait to come and see him when he gets home from work everyday. Its been fun to realize all the little firsts for Riley. The other day we had, hey! it's your first time on the freeway! And hey! It's your first time through the drive thru! His nursery isn't finished yet. I slack. When his curtains are finally hung, its done. We keep his bassinet in our room. I keep telling him his room is the torture chamber because we only go in there to change diapers and clothes. haha. I started to notice how much he likes music. I'm sure all babies like sound. I bought the disney's lullaby cd off of itunes. He LOVES it. Puts him right to sleep! Did I mention we love that too?? :) At his two week appointement he weighed 10lbs and was 22". This boy is really growing! I can't imagine how big he'll be in another month when its time for his blessing.

We love our little man. So happy he's here.
