Tonight I got home from work late.
Jake said to me, "We have a major problem. Our son is getting too smart!!!"
Apparently Jake did the night time bed routine, bath, bottle & rock to his lullabies.
He put him to bed and he was sound asleep, eyes closed, out like a light in his crib. He said about 30 minutes later he could hear this strange tapping noise...?
He went into his room and he was standing in the corner of his crib and grabbing the blinds and QUIETLY tapping them on the window. So he said, "Riley!" He was caught.
So Jake put him to bed again. Made sure he was asleep.
Then a little later he could hear him in his room silently jumping up and down on his mattress!!
No crying, No babbling. Just quietly playing.
So he let him play.
Jake went in about 15 minutes later... he was asleep finally.
What. a. night.
That boy knows how to party!
I really would have a hard time believing that DaDa truly put him to sleep, but Riley has done the same thing to me.
1: Rock him and feed him his bottle.
2: He's asleep in my arms.
3: Lay him in his crib.
4: Put his blankets on him (still motionless and asleep)
4: Lays there for about 6 entire seconds till he thinks you're gone...then BAM! then gets up on all fours.
It's insane!
But that's one of the funnest parts of Riley. Everything he does is so unexpected.
I can't tell you how much I love that boy.
I called tonight from work and Jake put me on speaker phone. I said, "Hi Riley!" And he instantly started SQUEALING and screaming for joy! It was great.
On my way home from work I was thinking about how one of my favorite things about him is that no matter where we are...
I can always hold him upside down to show people his 4 FRONT TEETH he's getting in all at once (poor kid) and he just laughs and laughs and smiles from ear to ear. Never ever shy.
He was upside down today at Angie's house, and upside down at the helmet doctor. Not a shy bone in him.
We also went and got his helmet adjusted today. It had been bothering me. The slightest thing like it being too close to one ear was annoying me and I just couldn't drop it. I thought that I wouldn't want that to be on me all awkward like that. So we made an appointment, went in today (only there once a week) and sure enough...there was a little problem with it. Mother's instincts I guess. Now its comfy....as could possibly be.
